Job Title: Platform Engineer

Location: UK Sites - Hybrid - 1-3 days onsite per month

Grade: GG09 - GG10

Referral Bonus: £5,000

This opportunity is to be involved in the development and deployment of new software solutions to high profile customers within the defence sector. Whilst this role is a hybrid role, the working pattern will be mainly working from home with travel to customer sites as required (approx. 1-3 days once per month). particularly during launches and deployments. 

As a Platform Engineer, you will:

• Analyse software requirements to define and document platform creation and management
• Use appropriate software development tools; e.g. source control, continuous integration
• Follow industry standard disciplines and best practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and ship new features
• Triage of vulnerabilities against the context of project risk
• Troubleshoot and debug issues on various platforms
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency

What We Are Looking For?

Essential:

• Strong experience within a Cloud Platform (combining experience and strong understanding of networking and infrastructure management tools within the platform,
• Experience of various security features and implementations
• Strong experience of using Terraform and Helm for Infrastructure as code (IaC)
• Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes 
• Experience of working within both Linux and Windows Operating Systems

• Experience deploying infrastructure as code and managing remote terraform state files, knowledge of azure landing zone and how it is built (good understanding of the networking and security across the architecture).

Desirable:

• Strong experience within the Microsoft Azure cloud platform
• Experience of initial platform development from inception (Day Zero)
• Experience applying a GitOps approach to platform development
• Experience in delivering platform/cloud agnostic solutions
