People Advisor

As a HR Advisor, you will act as a trusted partner to the Malaysia and Singapore offices, providing strategic, tactical and operational SME support across the full range of HR activities, ensuring adherence to the Company's standards, policies and procedures and HR solutions are aligned with business objectives. This role reports to the Head of People and will work closely with a small local HR Team, with a base in our Kuala Lumpur Office, however the team are encouraged to work in a hybrid model.
What you'll be doing
• Support in planning and implementing the People Plan.
• Use an understanding of the business and relationship management skills to influence, facilitate and implement change.
• Manage and advise on ER cases to ensure matters are handled appropriately avoiding escalations to Labour Law or MOM and ensuring a healthy work environment.
• Provide operational advice on a range of employment and performance issues and business change based on business needs.
• Enable people manager capability uplift, facilitating / supporting / coaching the manager in execution of people initiatives where necessary.
• Review business related people data to identify potential implications within the business context and environment, and initiate local actions to resolve as appropriate.
• Manage, lead or contribute to HR projects.
• Support the HR PP with a range of HR initiatives including: Talent Attraction, Reward, championing Diversity & Inclusion, and Talent Management cycle, ensuring performance reviews and development plans are in place and regularly reviewed.
• Support line managers on reorganisations to ensure the result is a structure that is fit for purpose to support the achievement of business goals with the right people in the right roles and clear career progression pathways.
• Work with the wider HR team on compliance, law and regulations updates and ensure the business are educated accordingly
• Encourage employees and line managers to use correct service channels.
• Mentor, support and coach junior members of the People Team in Malaysia.
What we're looking for
• Good knowledge of HR policies and practice, and working towards a CIPD or equivalent qualification.
• Experience of advising on HR matters across a diverse range of customers. A robust ER background, in particular sickness absence, performance management, disciplinary and grievance.
• The ability to translate strategy into action, creating winning solutions and output for the business. Can develop innovative and creative solutions to challenging HR problems and issues.
• Strong customer focus and the ability to build relationships, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Courage to challenge stakeholders in a constructive way to find the right people solutions.
• Excellent analytical skills with a history of making evaluative judgments from both factual and qualitative information drawn from a variety of sources.
• A commercial understanding of business issues particularly the two way "cause and effect" relationship for the strategic, financial, economic, business development and operational functions of a business.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Microsoft Office skills, with intermediate to advanced Excel ability.
• Initiative to manage conflicting priorities with a flexible and adaptable approach.
