What you’ll be doing 

 

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence has a significant international presence, with operations and projects spanning multiple countries across the EMEA and APAC regions. As we pursue an ambitious strategy to expand our international markets, we are enhancing our international security capability to ensure that our commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for our people and assets is achieved. 

 

To deliver our objectives, we now seek a proactive International Security Adviser to join our team. You will work with the Head of International Security and business colleagues to protect our employees and operations globally.

 

You will:

 

  • Provide security expertise: Advise and support leaders, colleagues and commercial teams on security best practices to inform business decision-making and ensure business objectives are delivered and managed safely and securely.

 

  • Assess and mitigate risk: Monitor changes to geopolitical, security and business activity landscapes, conduct thorough risk assessments and develop security management plans at a regional and local level to protect our people and our assets.

 

  • Act as a security representative: Prepare and present progress reports, security briefings, communications products, assist with incident management and represent the Head of International Security in wider cross-Sector, Group security and cross-functional meetings.

 

Core Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for security enquiries and incidents from travellers and BAE Systems Digital intelligence overseas site teams.
  • Review and approve hand carry approval requests for taking IT assets overseas and escalate complex requests for further review.
  • Review, assess and approve international travel requests to high-risk locations.
  • Provide proportionate, risk-based overseas travel security and physical security advice as required.
  • Prepare and deliver pre-travel security briefs and conduct post-travel de-briefs to enable Learning from Experience and continuous improvement.
  • Support threat monitoring, security investigation and incident response activities.
  • Conduct security risk assessments and assurance reviews to support travel, events and site operations.
  • Develop, maintain and review security plans, progress reports and performance dashboards as directed by the Head of International Security.
  • Represent security and our interests in internal review meetings and working groups.
  • Deputise for the Head of International Security as required.

 

Your skills and experiences 

  

  • An agile, analytical thinker who can assess situations, prioritise commitments and provide sound security advice whilst remaining calm under pressure.
  • A strong communicator with excellent report writing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Previous experience in a security advisory role for a site, establishment or major project in a regulated environment.
  • Willing to conduct domestic and international travel when required.
  • Familiar with recognised standards and methodologies for managing risk and security (ISO 31000, ISO 31030, ISO 27001, GovS 007, JSP 440, NPSA etc).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of geopolitical developments and their impact on business security.
  • Familiar with security tooling and platforms such as traveller tracking and open-source intelligence platforms.
  • Experienced in providing security risk management or close protection/asset protection operations overseas.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Holds a Level 4 Security Management qualification
  • CSMP Diploma, SRMC qualification or equivalent preferred
  • Project Management qualification desirable
